Earl Schultz Obituary

SCHULTZ, Earl COLUMBIA - Services for Earl Schultz, 84, will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at Longcreek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with burial at 2 p.m. in Union Memorial Cemetery, Union. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, DEVINE STREET CHAPEL. Mr. Schultz died Monday, January 2, 2006. Born in West New York, N.J., he was the son of the late Percy Rudolph and Edla Earl Schultz. He attended Georgia Tech and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Engineering from Philadelphia Textile Institute. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an active member of the Lake Murray Power Squadron. In 1995 he was awarded the Columbia Mayor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities Mary Mungo Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award. Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Joan Drexelius Schultz; daughters, Karen Schultz Anders and Wendy Ann Schultz of Columbia; sons, Richard Earl Schultz and daughter-in-law, Lucy Holliday Schultz of Mt. Pleasant, Douglas Schultz and daughter-in-law, Lyn Barker Schultz of Columbia and Mark David Schultz, also of Columbia; grandchildren, Barbie Anders Fulda, Jason Scott Anders, Adam Christopher Anders, Douglas Scott Schultz, Jr., James Campbell Schultz, all of Columbia and Amy Anders Land of Manning; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Longcreek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2740 Clemson Rd., Columbia, S.C. 29229 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn. 38101.
