Douglas Burbage Obituary

Douglas Allan Burbage SUMMERVILLE - Douglas Allan Burbage, age 43, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 from complications associated with COVID-19. He was born in Charleston on May 25, 1977, the son of Randall B. Burbage (Judy) and Cheryl E. Greene (Bobby Hagan). Doug is survived by his parents, sons, Alexander D. Burbage and Zachary M. Burbage, his brother, Brian C. Burbage (Melissa), his twin sister, Kimberly D. Burbage, sisters, Alison Frasier (Dwayne), Hannah Burbage Anderson (Jeremy), Rabun H. Jones (Cameron), brother, Gregory L. Howard, and many nieces and nephews. Doug was an accomplished historic military drummer and re-enactor with the Palmetto Battalion and 10th South Carolina Infantry from an early age. He graduated from James Island High School, where he played in the band, and attended the College of Charleston. He worked in the automotive industry, most recently at Marchant Chevrolet in Ravenel, SC. He loved NASCAR, history, and country music. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Secession Camp No. 4, and was proud of his heritage. Doug held many roles, but his most cherished title was that of "Dad." He loved his sons more than anything in the world. Doug loved interacting with and learning about those around him. He truly lived life to the fullest. A celebration of life will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 626 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407 on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, with visitation beginning at 4pm, followed by a ceremony at 6pm. Face masks required. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friends of the Hunley, 1250 Supply St., North Charleston, SC 29405. My heart hurts that you are no longer here sweet Doug. We shared a one-of-a-kind young love story that began at the Gettysburg re-enactment snowball stand 28 years ago. We may have lost touch for little while, but I am so thankful we reconnected (thanks Kimberly) about 6 years ago and kept in touch since. While we won´t get to have the reunion here in earth we wrote about all those years ago, I know we will one day in heaven. My heart goes out to your sons, your family, and your many friends.

Doug and I went to high school together at JIHS. He was always a very kind and sweet friend! In the new age of social media, so many of us over the years have been blessed with being able to talk and share our lives with each other. Please know that my family and I are praying for GOD´S comfort and peace that passes all understanding over all of you! May GOD HOLD you today and always. May the memories of Doug allow your hearts to have peace in knowing that he is with our Heavenly Father. May his legacy live on in all that each of you do. May GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
