Doris Rivers Obituary

Doris Rivers West CHARLESTON - Doris Rivers West, 94 of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 20, 2015. Mrs. West was born in Savannah, GA, the daughter of the late Aurelia S. Rivers and William W. Rivers. She was the wife of the late Amile C. West, Sr. Mrs. West graduated from Murray Vocational School. She worked as a secretary at Crafts, Bennett and James Simmons Schools and retired from Family Services of Charleston. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Amile C. West, Jr. Surviving are one son, William T. West and wife Caroline, one daughter, Betty W. Walker of Greenville, SC and husband Frank and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Greene. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Dr., North Charleston, SC 29405 with the Rev. Christopher Huff officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 4-6pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel. The family will also receive friends at the home of her son William West immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or The Canterbury House, 175 Market St., Charleston, SC 29401.
