Dearest BB,

Somehow this memorial popped up this morning, and it hit me like a truck. Another one of the World´s Greatest Generation has left us. I have had the honor and privilege of knowing many of these men, one of which was my father, another was Col Bridges.
I was the son in law of Col Paul Canant, so there were many times spent talking to Col Bridges and many stories told.
Deep freeze, etc, too many stories to remember and lots of funny ones too!

Although it has been 8 years, the memories are like they were yesterday.
I find there are no coincidences, God puts things in front of you for a reason, Col Bridges obituary is one.

I have been out of state and out of touch for several years, so I lost contact.
I wish that I could have attended Col Bridges last formation, but know that I honor his life in my heart and his service, sacrifice, dedication to duty will always be there.

BB, I never met you, but I know the feelings of losing a father, and they are strong and deep. Know that many others you´ll never meet truly loved and respected your father and mourn his loss, but carry his memory forever in their heart.
May God Bless you and comfort you.

Yours in Service,

Ron White

Colonel Bridges, we never got to meet you, but felt we were connected to you through your son Rusty and daughter-in-law Becky. Thank you for your generous service and commitment to our country. How fitting for you, a military pilot, to be ordered home by God on Memorial Day weekend. Susan and Louis Staub (Cincinnati, OH)

The Colonel was our hunt master at our Wragg-Barony hunt club for years, and that is where I met him. He was stern and ran the club like a military organization which made for a safe and great club. It is the personal conversations that I remember most: The talks that we had about our military experiences (mostly his, the advice that he passed on. He "chewed" me out pretty good one time, and he was right, AND I learned from the experience. He was an unforgettable man, and a true patriot. I honor his memory and wish the family well at this time. Larry Davis

Mr. Richard & Miss Ann,
We are so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. We know this has been a long and difficult time for you and your family. We are both here for you in the coming days, weeks, and months; even if it is from a distance. We hope this prayer helps you in finding solace:
"Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the time we have had with our loved one, a man who was inspiring, selfless, and above all kind. Keep him in your grasp, hold him until we meet and lift him up in heaven as you once have on earth. Until we meet again, greet him with a smile as we endure together until the day Saint Raphael brings us home again. We pray for solace and understanding love and grace in the joys of the great adventure we still have remaining and will reflect on times past and blessed memories that will light our way to meet you in the great blue yonder. We pray all these things in the name of our great Abba, Father. Amen"

May 24, 2015

Dad,
If I could have gone to the store to buy me a dad, I would have picked you!
You will be in every Bluebird I see, every Margarita I drink, every window I wash, and I will never have window blinds!...ha ha . Oh yes, I will keep putting vinegar on the fridge door gasket, plus see you in many, many other ways each day.:)
Thank you for being my Dad, but most of all....thank you for being you.
Love,
Your Bluebird
