Joseph A. Darby, pastor. Viewing will be at the church on Wednesday starting at 5:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends at the church on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. There will be a ceremony of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc at 6:30 p.m. at the church, and sorority sisters are requested to dress in white dresses or suits. Viewing will be at the church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. until funeral time. Interment will be at Bethel AME Church Cemetery, Georgetown, SC. Arrangements by FIELDING HOME FOR FUNERALS, 122 Logan Street, 722-3348 or 1-800-290-5954. Delma was born in New York City to Della Prioleau Llanna, social worker, teacher, and law student and to Louis Llanna, artist, who traveled internationally and passed for other nationalities in order to be commissioned for his art work. She grew up as an only child being raised by her grandmother, Maria Tucker Prioleau, Native American (Cherokee), and founder of a private school and a grandfather, Edmund Prioleau, an AME Minister and entrepreneur. Much of her early life was spent in New York City and Georgetown, South Carolina. She attended Howard University in Washington, DC where she earned her BS and MS degrees in psychology. During her matriculation at Howard she was inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha National Sorority. Form nay years, she served as a clinical psychologist and counselor in the District of Columbia School System and in the Dade County School System in Miami, Florida. Subsequently, she earned her Ph.D degree in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. Her Ph.D dissertation was done at the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University and involved original research in the field of Creativity. Her thesis was entitled, Creativity and the Influence of Birth Order. During this time, she married Dr. Roy Woods, Internist and Immunologist. They have been the proud parents of three children, Roy Woods, Jr., Edmund Prioleau Woods, and Delma M.D. Woods. Delma was always blessed with high levels of energy and commitments to help others with a particular interest in children. Just a few of her interests and contributions have included the following, 1.) founding the Morris Brown AME Church Community Theatre Company for young people, 2.) past president of the Charleston Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, 3.) Co-founder of the Annual Health and Wellness Fair, which has been renamed by her colleagues: The Dr. Delma M. Woods Health and Wellness Fair, 4.) dedicated work to the Auxiliary of the National Medical Association, 5.) Jazz columnist for the Charleston Chronicle Newspaper, 6.) Previous host of Jazz International on WPAL Radio, 8.) Business Manager for Woods Medical Center, and 8.) Devoted child of God. Delma appeared to live a full life and one highlighted by service to others. While many of us at times floundered around looking for purposes, she appeared to have found it. She knew that this life was just a test; a preparation for her eternal life into which she ascended on December 11, 2005 at 3:20 p.m. Yes, she knew as the scriptures teach us: "Anyone who holds onto life just as it is, destroys that life. But, if you let it go, you'll have it forever-real and eternal." She is survived by her husband, Dr. Roy Woods; three children, Roy Woods, Jr., Edmund Prioleau Woods, and Delma M.D. Woods; two grandchildren, Aenjel Maria Woods and William Dozier, and a host of other relatives and friends. To Dr. Roy L. Woods & Family

May He Comfort You

He Walks With Us

The road of life may take us where we do not care to go

Up rocky paths, down darkened trails, our steps unsure and slow.

But our dear Lord extends His hand to hold, to help, to guide us.

We never have to feel alone for He walks close beside us.

May you find strength in God's presence at this time.

May His love be your comfort.

I DID NOT KNOW YOUR WIFE/MOTHER. FROM READING HER PAGE I FELT THE LOVE AND CARE THAT SHE EMBELISHED THE WORLD AND HER COMMUNITY WITH. ALL THE LOVE AND WARMTH THAT SHE HAD IN HER EARTHLY BEING. JUST TO READ OF THE THINGS THAT HER FAMILY DID LONG BEFORE SHE ENTERED THE PICTURE TO ASURE THAT SHE WAS AFFORDED THE THINGS THAT SHE NEEDED TO MAKE IT IN THIS LIFE SHOWS THAT SHE CAME FROM GOOD STOCK. I FEEL THAT THE FAMILY ESPECIALLY DR WOODS AND THE CHILDREN WILL NOT FORGET HER AND WILL TRY THEIR VERY BEST TO CARRY ON WITH THE THINGS THAT SHE HAS SET UP IN THE CHURCH AND COMMUNITY.

MAY GOD FOREVER SMILE UPON YOU AS YOU CELEBRATE HER UNIQUE LIFE.

Dr, Woods & family: I remember Dr. Delma Woods as "the voice of jazz" on WPAL. I had an opportunity to tell her how much I admired her and the music she played when I trained as a "DJ." She was warm and full of life. I want to convey my heartfelt sympathy to you and yours. May God grant you comfort and peace.
