Della Willis Obituary

Della Caroline Bowers Willis FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Della Caroline Bowers Willis died Friday, November 23rd, 2018-Black Friday this year, to be exact, which is apt because she was the self-described black sheep of the family. She was the wife of the late Michael A. Willis, the mother of Michael and Chuck, the grandmother of Brittany and Jasmine, and the sister of Charlie, Helen, and Dorothy. She was Aunt Candy and a widely beloved pseudo mother, Mama, and good friend to many, because she took in anyone who needed to be loved. She knew the name of every person in old black-and-white family photographs, collected stories to be relayed on hours-long phone calls, and every day she smelled like she'd just bathed in Calvin Klein Escape. Ever the all-knowing owl, she stayed up at night reading books and slept during the day. She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Della Bowers and brother David. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, so we all assume they've finally made it to that lake house together. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

To the family, you have my sincere condolences. When someone falls asleep in death (Ecclesiastes 9: 5,10) the memories we have of them become our most precious treasure. May those memories comfort you as well as Gods promise at John 6:40.
