David Ott Obituary

David "Skipper" Ott SUMMERVILLE - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David "Skipper" Patrick Ott. On Friday, May 5, 2023, Skipper went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Skipper was born on October 5,1963 in Charleston, SC. He was the firstborn of Samuel David and Sally Jo Ott. Skipper attended Bishop England High School and The College of Charleston. Skipper was best known in the lowcountry as the founder and operator of Ott Construction, a business he started in 1986. Skipper also worked for many years at The Citadel. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who loved sports. He spent many seasons coaching youth baseball at St. Andrew's Park and Playground. Skipper will be remembered as a loving, generous, and loyal family member and friend. He was a beloved son and brother and a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Skipper's greatest quality was his willingness to help others in need, and he touched the lives of many. The following was Skip's testimony, "The good news is that we have forgiveness from our God whose Son shed His blood for our sins." In addition to his parents, he is survived by: siblings: Shawn Ott (Sherri), Christopher Ott (Laura), Aimee Ott Whitock (Andy), and Rebecca Ott Kilroy (Kyle); and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 12 to 1 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel. A private graveside service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charleston Classical School, 1179 Remount Rd., N. Charleston, SC 29406. My prayers and condolences to all family memebers that my dear Skipper beloved. He will be greatly missed by myself and all those he touched with his caring, generosity and thoughtful soul. I enjoyed the playground years with him, working at times with him and the many years of friendship. I will miss him. We lost a good good man. Blessed travels my friend.

David and Sally. It is with a sad heart that I write this note to express my grief over Skipper's passing. He truly was a great friend to others. I am thankful that he left a testimony of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. I am praying for God's comfort for the family at this time.

I´m so sorry to hear of my friend and classmate´s passing. We had an English class together at BE. He sat in front of me and we had the best time in class. He tied my shoe laces to the back legs of his desk so I couldn´t leave class. We were weak with laughter. We spoke in recent years and he talked lovingly about his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was unable to attend our 41st class reunion last March. I was so hoping to see him. My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to the entire family. What a wonderful soul. Rest in Peace Skipper.
