Dan Seay Obituary

Dan Wingard Seay N. CHARLESTON - Dan Wingard Seay, age 88, of North Charleston, SC died Sunday, December 18, 2011, in a care facility in North Charleston. Born October 6, 1923 in Lexington, SC he was one of three children of Bernard Herbert Seay and Zula Wingard Seay. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and served in the 36 Infantry Division where he fought in the D-Day Invasion, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and the Rhineland. He was a decorated war veteran having earned the EAMET Campaign medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Purple Heart, and the Victory Medal. Later he was assigned to the 191st Military Police Battalion. He retired as a machinist from Westvaco after 39 years. Mr. Seay is survived by his daughter, Nancy S. DePriest and her husband Robert of Goose Creek, SC, son, Dan Seay and his wife Susan of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren: Stephanie N. Carter (Jason), Daniel P. Seay (Stacey), Elizabeth A. Carnes (Brian), Colette L. Via (Kyle), Amber N. Dryden (Nicholas) and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Gavin Seay and Nicole Rooney. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Seay; daughter, Elizabeth Seay; brother, Roy Herbert Seay Sr. and sister, Vera McAndrews. The funeral service will be held in Advent Lutheran Church, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10:00 am. Interment with military honors will be held at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 between 6 and 8pm. The family thanks the staff of Life Care Center of Charleston for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3347 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405 and/or Honor Flight Lowcountry, P. O. Box 12308, Charleston, SC 29422.
