Christine Knight Simmons SUMMERVILLE - Christine Knight Simmons, 83, of Summerville, SC, wife of Chalmers Lionel Simmons, Jr., died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Trident Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 2 o'clock at Summerville Community Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be held at White Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Summerville Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, Building Fund, 520 Gahagan Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. Mrs. Simmons was born August 5, 1929 in Dorchester County, SC, a daughter of St. Clair A. Knight, I and Ella Cone Knight. She was a saleswoman and bookkeeper in the retail appliance business. She was a devoted member of Summerville Community Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a devoted wife of 68 years, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Simmons loved people and animals, and was a good friend to everyone. She left no heart untouched, human or animal. Survivors include her husband, Chalmers Lionel Simmons, Jr. of Summerville, SC; 1 daughter, Sandra S. Ballington (Jason) of West Columbia; 1 son, Larry K. Simmons (Jeannine) of Summerville, SC; 2 brothers, St. Clair A. Knight, II of Greenville, SC, Daniel L. Knight of League City, TX; 4 grandchildren, April Price (David), Rebecca Simmons, Douglas Simmons, Kezaih Metzger (Bobby); 6 great grandchildren, Emma Price, Mary Catherine Price, Grace Price, Ella Price, Nolan Metzger and Madalynne Metzger. She was predeceased by her mother and father; 3 brothers; 1 granddaughter, Julie Costerisan; 1 grandson, Benjamin Simmons.
