Christina Hughes Obituary

Christina Hughes WALTERBORO - Mrs. Christina Marie Hughes, affectionately known by many as "Tina", age 37, of 1328 Stokes Road, entered into her state of eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, January 4, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Randall Gregg Hughes, Sr. The mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10 o'clock Saturday morning, January 8, 2011, from Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church, with The Reverend Father Jeffery Kendall officiating. The final commendation and farewell will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. Mrs. Hughes was born May 2, 1973, in Charleston, South Carolina and was a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Becker Nettles and the late Edwin Ladene "Dinky" Nettles. She was currently attending Trident Technical College where she was earning her nursing degree and while enrolled she had remained on the Dean's List for all semesters she attended there. She was a member of Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Walterboro and was the manager of the Crab Shack in North Charleston. She was formerly the manager for the Pavilion Restaurant at Edisto Beach and the Waffle House on Sniders Highway in Walterboro. Surviving are: in addition to her mother, Betty Becker Nettles of Walterboro are: five daughters, Debra Ann Benton and her husband Kevin of Ruffin, Cheyenne Caroline Hughes, Sierra Renee Hughes, Savannah Grace Hughes, and Christall Dawn Hughes all of the home; and a son, Randall Gregg Hughes, Jr. of the home; two brothers, David Edwin Nettles and Kevin Edward Nettles both of Walterboro; a sister, Flora Elizabeth Nettles of Walterboro; her grandmother, Mrs. Flora Mae Becker of Edisto Island; and a special uncle and also her God-father, John G. Becker and his wife Charlotte of Edisto Island. There are four grandchildren that also survive, along with her father and mother-in-law, Mr. Charles Bert Hughes, Jr. and Mrs. Peggy Bazzle Hughes of Walterboro; She was preceded in death by a brother, Louie Ladene Nettles. We just found out about this tragedy today. We have known Tina for awhile from going to the crab shack. Please know that we are praying for you all and praying for her children.

tina will be greatly missed by many..she gave my oldest and middle son their first jobs at waffle house,and they have all remained friends over the years.my youngest son spent many weekends at tinas being friends with randy.she was always such a bubbly person no matter what wrongs she crossed,she still had that smile!our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,especially the kids,they nor tina deserved this.keeping u in our hearts through these difficult times..brenda altman,mack.brandon,and tanner.
