I was away on a trip and did not learn of Pete's passing until today. I am deeply saddened. Although I had not seen him in several years, my opinion of him as a professional and as an individual never wavered. Pete was a gifted, generous man, and a class act.

Dear Connie,
I read in Sunday's paper about Pete transitioning. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during your time of bereavement. He was a good guy! Under separate cover I am sending a small memorial to the Gibbes Museum of Art.
Sincerely,
John Rivers

Dear Connie, I just got the word here in Chapel Hill of Pete's passing. He was a wonderful human being and a role model for me as an arts administrator, writer, and publisher. My deepest sympathies to you and the family. Pete will be sorely missed, yet fondly remembered.
