Charles Sirisky Obituary

Everytime I ever ran into Mr. Sirisky, he greeted me with a firm handshake and hearty one-armed hug around the shouler, "good to see ya, Mitch, how's the family". I shall miss running into him. A good man in every sense.

I recall Buddy as a very kind, genial, and decent schoolmate from the old days at BEHS, now more than half a century ago. Those who knew him as well as his community must be deeply affected by his loss. Please accept my condolences.

I send you my condolences. I'm very sorry to hear of Buddy's death. We were in a couple of classes together at Bishop England High, & even then Buddy had a knack of making anyone around him feel good. I also remember him playing his trumpet. I will surely miss this good man & friend. Joe Di Yorio

It's hard to believe Charley is gone. Riding to work with him when I needed a ride was always an adventure. Listening to all his plans and projects and the enthusiasm with which he embraced life were inspiring and contagious. My husband E.J. and Buddy went back even longer and E.J. really appreciated Buddy playing taps at the Merchant Marine Veterans of WWII reunions. Charley was truly a good man with so many talents that he so selflessly shared. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Our prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss; we've all lost one heck of a nice guy. Buddy and I were on the boxing teams together at Cathedral-Holy Name (CHN) back in the late 40's when I was in the Catholic orphanage on Queen Street, and Buddy was my friend. Later we boxed in the 9th grade in the only year BEHS had a boxing program. I still have a News & Courier clipping that mentions his Golden Gloves fight against a kid named Risher. What a competitor Buddy was! He will be sorely missed by so many.

Margie and family it is really hard to sit here and write this as you know it was as just a shock to allBuddy's Elk family as to yours. I thought the memorial service went well and everyone of the PER'S that were touched by Buddy summed up exactly how everyone feels we all loved Buddy and when the Grand Ole Opry comes around next year we will be waiting on a trumpet to sound and Buddy to say go on Ralph get on with the show!

What a truly amazing, loving, charitable man, father, grandfather Buddy was. I am blessed to have known him and honored that he welcomed me into his family with loving, open arms and a beautiful trumpet solo of "The Eyes Of Texas." Never will he be forgotten.

To the family of Buddy Sirisky, I first met Buddy many years ago when we were in the same Boy Scout troop, and then a few years later we were in the same National Guard unit together. I lost track of Buddy and left Charleston in 1971. Later I would see him when I came to Charleston for special Washington Light Infantry gatherings. Buddy always greeted me with a smile and it was as if the years of separation melted away as we reminisced about old times. For several years now we have exchanged emails and I have come to know more of Buddy's devotion to God and his deep love for his family and our country. I shall miss hearing from him. Someone sent me a short video of Buddy singing Taps at one of the WLI memorial services in Washington Park and I have saved it so I can listen to it from time to time to remind me of my friend and fellow soldier, Buddy Sirisky. God bless all of you and may you find peace in your memories of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, soldier and citizen.

Dear Sirisky Family-I could never say or do anything to take away any of the pain you are feeling. Mr Sirisky was one man that for the past 8 years I could always count on to make me see the good that was in the worst of situations. When he came to Dr. Carter's office he left making sure we all knew how greatful he was for us. And in low times of my life he would pray with me and for me. This man loved his family and made me see what a real family should be like. His wife he called his angel. His children his pride and His grands the light in his eyes. I was lucky to know him and feel his love for me too. I only wish I had called or drove by to say hello since leaving Carter's office in April. But I know he is in a better place and If I can ever help any of you in anyway please contact me. Mr Sirisky is the Greatest Man I have ever known.. My love to you all.

Take comfort in knowing you now have a guardian angel looking down and holding your hands during this difficult time. I remember ALL the times spent with mama and functions at Blessed Sacrament. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

We were so sad to hear of Charlie's death. What a wonderful and loving man he was! We are thankful that Lee was led to your home. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers and Charlie is in our hearts.

To Buddy's family,
I had lunch with some former football teammates and opponents at Jasons on 10-15-08. When I made these plans, I specifically asked that some one contact Buddy and ask him to come. He and I had a short aquaintance when we were about 15 years old, but he was always in my memory as one of Charleston's really good athletes and a great guy.
Buddy sent me an e-mail thanking me for my kind words about him but admitted that he didn't remember me. Nevertheless, Buddy came by Jason's that day and we had a chance to talk and remember others we had known so long ago.
What a gracious man he was - and he was a gracious young man as well.
I will always be thankful for October 15 2008, and for the chance to see Buddy one last time.

It is with deep regret that i read of Buddy's death. I went to high school with him, although I was 2 years ahead of him, I have always considered Buddy as a very true friend and I will miss seing that truly genuine smile that Buddy had, he never met a stranger. I am sure he is a much better place now, and may the perpetual light shine upon him.
I am sorry but due to my health i cannot get by the viewing but wanted to wish you well. He will be sorely missed.

I remember Buddy when I was growing up on Charlotte Street although he was older than I. I really got to know him as a member of the W.L.I. and also of B company. Buddy was there for me when my father died as a result of Alzheimers. He was always there ministering to those in need and always had a kind word to share. He knew no strangers and accepted everyone as family.

For the short time I knew him, since Betty introduced us, I had a sense of the great man Buddy is. He did not live with his illness as the key focus of his life; he was able to reach out to others and to loftier ideals; he prayed with bold faith and courage; he lived life to the full; and having done that it is appropraite for him to die. May he rest in peace in the arms of the one he grew to know and love through his faithul, prayerful deveotion to the Eucharist and the Ministry of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. I will treasure now the many lovely presentations he shared with me. Buddy rest in peace. Peace, perfect peace! To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

Since I was such good friends with Jennie all through school I have such great memories of Mr. Sirisky, as I spent a lot time at their house growing up. I am sad to hear of your loss. While I have been away from Charleston since 1961, I remember fondly the times Buddy and I spent as youngsters at the Y.M.C.A and later as members of the National Guard. The few times I saw Buddy when I visited Charleston I was aways warmly greeted and enjoyed seeing him. May he rest in peace.

I regret that I knew him only a short while but I was lifted at each visit by his caring and sincere greeting. How wonderful it is to be remembered as he is by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by so many.
