Charles William "Bill" Gale, Jr. N. CHARLESTON - Charles William "Bill" Gale, Jr., 76, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Sylvia Thinna Gale, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 19, 2023. His Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, in the Jericho Mitchell Cemetery, Spelltown Road, Cottageville, SC, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC 29406. Bill was born June 2, 1947, in Gouverneur, NY, son of the late Charles William Gale, Sr. and the late Evelyn Hadfield Gale. After graduating college he served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the US Navy in the construction battalion (Sea Bees). Following his time of service, he dedicated his life to the education of the children of Colleton County. He began his over 30 year career with the county as a teacher and guidance counselor and eventually became the superintendent of education. He had a passion for bowling, playing golf, and billiards and cheering on the Buffalo Bills and the Duke Blue Devils. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Gale of North Charleston, SC; two children, Michael James Gale of Brookline, MA, Andrea Lynn (Nicholas Guess) Gale of Blythewood, SC; grandchild, Lleyton Maddox Guess; sibling, Mary "Mickey" Gale of Harrisville, NY; sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn George of Walterboro, SC, and Lathonia Williams of Salisbury, NC; many, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sibling, Helen "Cookie" Evelyn Nelson; and mother-in-law, Naomi Mitchell Thinna. Flowers will be accepted.
