Carroll Crews Obituary

Carroll Crews, Sr. HENDERSONVILLE, SC - Mr. Carroll Edwin Crews Sr., husband of Bessie Ann Long Crews, died Tuesday at his residence. He was 78. Carroll was born in Hampton County December 25, 1934 a son of the late John Otis Crews and Ada Lily Taylor Crews. He retired from SCE&G after 35 years as a maintenance supervisor at the Canadys Plant, and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Hendersonville. Carroll loved stock car racing, was a Hot-Rod enthusiast, and was a fan and collector of Ford Studebakers. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Carroll is survived by three children: Carroll Edwin "Ed" Crews, Jr., John Charles Crews and his wife Paige, and Jodi Burns, all of Walterboro. There are four grandchildren: Cayce Edwin Crews, Andrew Francis Burns, Jeb Oden Crews and John Avery Crews. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Allen Long of Walterboro, and a sister-in-law Elizabeth Crews of Yemassee. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday in the Stokes Cemetery in Hendersonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at the Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro, SC.
