Capt. Billy Ray Pointer USN (Ret.) Charleston - Capt. Billy Ray Pointer USN (Ret.), 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kathryn Pointer, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 11, 2015. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. Interment services will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC at 2:00pm. Capt. Billy Ray Pointer was born October 2, 1943 in Lebanon, Missouri, son of Elster Pointer and Dorothy Wolfe Pointer Hill. He was a retired 26-year veteran of the US Navy in the Naval Supply Corps. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years; two daughters, Cindy Peachey (John) of Lexington, SC and Lisa Burns (Andrew) of Christiansburg, VA.; one brother, Bob Pointer (Wanda) of Republic, MO.; sister, Betty Harris (Edward) Blue Springs, MO.; sister-in-law, Faye Pointer of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren, Alexander Peachey, Megan Peachey, Kate Burns; special family friend, Janet Blackston; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Ted Pointer. I just found out that Bill had passed away in Dec. My husband and I loved Bill with a passion for him and his wife, children and grandchildren. It almost felt we knew them through Bill. Our life is so humbled to know a great man, veteran, husband, father and grandfather he loved beyond eternity. So happy your wife took you to play those 18 holes the last game. We always loved and respected you and your family. Give my family the same respect as you travel to heaven...we know you will. God bless you and all of your loved ones. Missed
