Betty Jo Neighbors BUNNLEVEL,NC - Betty Jo Neighbors, 75, of Bunnlevel, formerly of Smoaks, SC, passed away, Sunday, July 23, 2023, at WakeMed Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Jo was born February 19, 1948, in Beaufort, SC, to the late Ervin and Betty Smoak. She was a 1967 graduate of Bells High School in Smoaks, SC. Jo was an animal lover of all kinds and specifically horses. She was an avid reader and enjoyed books about history and family genealogy. Jo was preceded in death by her brother, Ervin Smoak, Jr.; sister-in-law, Judy Smoak; nephew, Jeff Smoak; and two grandsons, Shelby and Aaron Hadwin. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jimmy Neighbors; sons, David Connelly (Emily), Tim Neighbors (Jamie), and Scott Neighbors (Tracey); daughters, Danielle Mixon (Robert), and Shanna Jarrell (Bubba); grandchildren, Gabby, Bradlee, Dylan, Austin, Timothy, River, Jimmy Scott, RJ, Drew, Savannah, and Harley; and great-grandchildren, Modesty, Tatum, Trace, Bexley, Brylen, Warren, Kaylee, and Callum; and special cousin, Bubba and Cindy McAlhaney. A graveside service will be held 3pm Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery, 482 Lodge Hwy., Smoaks, SC 29481. The family will receive friends 5pm 7pm Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at OQuinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546.
