Bernice Olearczyk Obituary

RIVERS, Bernice Mrs. Bernice Bobbie Rivers Olearczyk entered into eternal rest the morning of October 9 , 2006. She passed peacefully. She bravely fought a tough battle as the result of a stroke she suffered on May 23, 2006. Bobbie was born in Charleston, S.C. Jan 4, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Lewis Norton Riggs and Bernice Ruth Rivers, both of North Charleston. She was a graduate of NCHS Class of 1952. She was a member of the Ladies Amvets Auxiliary and an Eastern Star. In her employment years, she worked in the Housing Referral Office at the CAFB and more recently as Greeting Card Rep for Spar Marketing. Her hobbies included spending lots of time with her grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary, enjoying and protecting South Carolina wildlife, and adopting many stray and abandoned pets. She also loved watching American Idol and HSN. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter Cindy Rivers Branham and her late husband Stanley R. Olearczyk. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Laura Rivers Premak and Garth Premark of North Charleston, brother and sister-in-law Lewis N. and Virginia Riggs of Mableton, GA, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the niece of the late Congressman L. Mendel Rivers of Charleston, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pet Helpers, 1430 Folly Road, Charleston, S.C. 29412 will be greatly appreciated. A gathering will be held at Parks Funeral Home in Summerville, SC on Wednesday evening, October 11, 2006 between the hours of 6 and 8 o'clock . Family and friends are invited to attend. Memorial services will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 West Third South Street, Summerville, SC on Thursday morning, October 12, 2006 at 11 o'clock.
