Benjamin Earle Johnson Charleston - Benjamin Earle Johnson, 80, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, May 6, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Northbridge Baptist Church, 1160 Sam Rittenberg Blvd, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may call Friday, May 11, 2018 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the family home. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL. Ben was the husband of Theresa Taylor Johnson and the father of Theresa Johnson Leinbach and Preston West Johnson. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Murray Johnson, and his three grandchildren, Preston West Johnson Jr, Taylor Mackenzie Leinbach, and Alexa Lanier Johnson, as well as, siblings, Frank C. Johnson (Faye) of Seneca and Rebekah J. Baker (Sam) of Pelzer. Ben was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Franklin Johnson and Mary Campbell Johnson of Chester, South Carolina. Ben was a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Mechanical Engineering and he held a masters in business administration. He was retired from Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast Division and Charleston County. Ben was an active member of Northbridge Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, treasurer, assistant treasurer, Royal Ambassador leader, and property committee member for many years. He enjoyed fishing, reading, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family. Ben was a Ham radio operator and a member of ASHRAE. The family wishes to express thanks to Caris Hospice who provided compassionate care and support. Memorials may be made to Northbridge Baptist Church, 1160 Sam Rittenberg Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407.
