Benjamin Jantzen Obituary

Benjamin Karl Jantzen JAMES ISLANDi - Benjamin Karl Jantzen, 37, of James Island, SC, beloved son, father, brother and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly. The relatives and friends of Benjamin Karl Jantzen are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 AM Friday, June 16, 2023, at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road, James Island. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Benjamin was born in Charleston on July 24, 1985. He was the son of Steven Karl Jantzen and Karen S Balliet (James). Ben brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. From an early age, he was a kind and compassionate person. He always had a smile or joke to brighten someone's day. Ben had a natural talent for building or fixing anything thrown his way, except for plumbing. He would call his stepdad, Jamie, for help, which was gladly given. Ben never lost his "one miracle at a time" positive spirit, attitude or determination. He was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His heart was as big as the ocean. We take comfort knowing he is at peace and is with the Lord. Our lives will never be the same without you. You know how much we loved you and we will be with you again when God calls us home. You were and always will be our hero. In addition to his parents, Benjamin is survived by his three children: Layla, Jillian and Naomi Jantzen. He is also survived by his sister, Morgan Balliet (Trent); his paternal grandparents, B. Karl and Martha Jantzen and girlfriend, Brittany Berry and her daughter, Birdie. He leaves behind aunts, uncles and many cousins. Benjamin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Rosemary Sueverkruepp and his paternal grandmother, Evelyn (Nancy) Jantzen. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by James A. McAlister, Inc., 843-766-1365. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston
