Benjamin Griner Obituary

GRINER, Benjamin VARNVILLE - Mr. Benjamin O. "Ben" Griner, 83, of 10615 Pocataligo Road, near Varnville, died late Monday night in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Griner was born in Hampton County, May 28, 1922, a son of the late Benjamin Grover Griner and Aline Smith Griner DeLoach. He was a life long farmer, and was a member of the Staffords Masonic Lodge #216. He was a member and Deacon of the Nixville Baptist Church, and had served as Poll Manager of the Bonnett Precinct in Hampton County for 30 years. Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy Clark Griner of the home; sons, Bennie G. Griner and wife Donna; and Dennie Brooks Griner and wife Cheryl all of Estill; daughter, Susan G. Edwards and husband Freddie of Varnville; sisters, Nollie Dukes of Reesville, Linda Hiers of Hampton, Mary Alice Nordeen of Estill; grandchildren, Jason Griner, Derek Griner, Kristen G. Rentz, Ashlee Edwards, and Griner Edwards; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Jayse Rentz. Mr. Griner was pre-deceased by a grandson, Brooks Griner; and a sister, Ruby DeLoach. Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Thursday, in the Nixville Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Paul Creason, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton. Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, and Thursday until 3 p.m. when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services. We are sorry to hear about the passing of Ben Griner. He was a good hard working family man; who loved everybody. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He is with the Lord now.
