Barbara Parham Obituary

Barbara Parham GREENWOOD, SC - Barbara Jean Holbrook Parham, of Greenwood, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the age of 79. Affectionately known as "Oma" to her extended family, close friends, and church community, she was in the company of her loving family during her final days at Greenwood's Hospice Care of the Piedmont. Barbara was born to parents Hubert and Janie Holbrook on September 19, 1936 in Anderson, SC. She grew up as the eldest of three, graduated from Hanna High School, and attended Furman University. In 1955, she married Dr. K. J. (Jack) Parham, the beginning of a blessed union that would last for over sixty years. Second only to a deep commitment to her Lord and her family was her love of music, literature, and travel. Oma is fondly remembered for the wistful remark, "I'm homesick for all the places I've never been." Barbara is survived by her husband, Jack; two sons, James Barrett Parham and Kenneth Rhodes Parham; Kenneth's wife, Diane, and their two children, Oma's beloved grandchildren, Lila Grace and Claire; and her sister, Judy Holbrook Gladwell. She was preceded in death by a son, Craig Holbrook Parham, and a brother, Donald Walton Holbrook.
