Andrew Folk Obituary

Andrew "Andy" R. Folk, Jr. COLUMBIA, SC - Memorial service for Andrew "Andy" R. Folk, Jr., 61, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be former, retired and active officers of the SC Highway Patrol. Andy passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was born on October 29, 1952, in Charleston to Ralph Folk and the late Olivia Riley Folk of Moncks Corner. Andy attended Clemson University from 1970 until 1974 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was employed by the Clemson City Police Department from 1975 until 1978. He was a patrolman for the SC Highway Patrol from 1978 until 1988. From 1988 until his retirement in 2011, he was the owner of Folk Construction Company. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf with his best friend Wayne Burr. He was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church. He is survived by the love of his life, Joann Hayton and their sweet dog, Murphy; daughter, Andrea Folk; grandsons, Drew Green, Riley Folk, Oliver Folk; and sister, Anne (Gerald) Graham of Moncks Corner. He was predeceased by his brother, Rusty. Andy would like to express his love and appreciation for Dr. Bob and Ti Smith, friend for more than 30 years, and also, the staff at SC Oncology Associates. I knew Andy back in the 80's when he was on the patrol. He was a very sweet guy. He always brought a smile to my face. So sorry for your loss.
