William and family, I was sorry to hear about Mrs. Stepter. I was one of her student. She taught me in fourth grade at Archer. She was always so pleasant. I wish we had more like her.

Cousin Stepter was a joy and great friend to my mother Kass. They loved to send birthday and holiday cards to each other from their cats and dogs! She will truly be missed by us all. What a beautiful, loving job all of you did for and with her.

Billy,Sweetie,Boy,William & Family,

All the names you were called out of your Mother's love. Ms Alvena was a Virtuous Woman. The characteristics which she portrayed included; hardworking, wise, resourceful, noble, faithful, gentle charitable. As a neighbor during my childhood I saw all of these characteristics in her. As an adult when I came back home she was the same. I joined a pokeno club with her, my mother, my aunt, Joan, Delores & Pam. We had fun! Age was only a number. When it was her time to host the club we were all well nourished. She made the best ice tea. She and my mom were "best of friends", they were classmates. Ms. Alvena had impeccable penmanship. When my sister got married she addressed all the invitations, wow!

Ms Alvena gave my mother a little box called Faithful Words Promise Box, which I keep in my night stand. I will share one with you. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2.
Home, oh how soft and sweet:It thrills upon the heart. Home! where the brethren meet, and never, never part.
Billy Priscilla, Tasha, Ave, who cared unconditionally, and to the rest of the family keep the memories in your heart and she will ever be a part of you.Eternal rest grant unto her o Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon her, May her soul and all the souls of the Faithful departed rest in Peace. Amen.

Cloud, Priscilla, and extended family, you all have our deepest sympathy. Although we know this hour is coming one day, we are never prepared for it; there is never enough time. Cloud, God will bless you for being there for your mother each and everyday. You did everything that you could; but now she is resting, no more pain or sorrow! You will always remember and miss her, but some days will be easier than others. We will continue to pray for the family.

Love you all,

Frank and Patricia

William and Tasha,
You have done a wonderful job in making certain that Mrs. Stepter wanted for nothing. She knew that the two of you, left no stones unturned physically, emotionally and spiritually. Certainly, she was Loved and Cared for until her transition on Friday.
In June, when I visited Charleston, to attend my 50th High School Reunion, my sister and I visited with her. I will never forget the questions that she asked of us, dating back to Ashton Street, My father(Charlie) and mother(Ida)and my husband (Sonny),etc. Mrs. Stepter has been a part of our extended family for over 60 years. We cherished her as a surrogate mother, by visiting with her when we came home. She was a gracious, loving, gentle lady who encouraged all of the Smalls children and our parents throughout the years. We will miss her earthy presence, but we know that she is now among the angels.
Her longevity here with us, should be a testimony to the care that you provided for her. You will no longer hear "Tasha or William" every few minutes during her waking hours, but you will be at Peace, knowing that you were there for her calls. You cared for her during her later years with such a "Sweet, Sweet, Spirit. The same spirit that she nurtured you into adulthood. God will continue to bless you richly. Release her to the "Angels." We all loved her but God loved her Best.

To Billy, Prisilla, & Tasha- Patsy gave me the sad news of Ms. Alvina "Going Home". She was a very special person, not only being one of my mother's best friends, but also she was a part of the Mack family. During our days growing up on Ashton St. Ms. Alvina always had her doors open to us. She always offered soda, cake , candy, you name it.Even when she moved on Congress St. it was the same. She was just like another "Ashton St. Mom". I saw her a couple of months ago when she was passing through on Ashton St. & I was amazed at how she remembered all my children's & even a couple of grands' names & we even did a little reminiscing about the dinner she gave for my wedding party-about 45yrs ago. There are many other memories that I can share, and that's what you must remember-the loving memories of Ms. Alvina as I'm sure you have. My prayers and sincere condolences to you.

Grandma I had the honor of being blessed by God to have you as my grandma. You taught so much to me as a child all the way up to my current age. You took care of me and I knew that I wanted to care for you no matter what and loved being their for you each and everyday. Taking care of you made our bond grew deep because we lived together and hared so many conversations, laughter's and even tears. In my heart you were not just my grandma but my mother because you and grandpa raised me. Being in the house with you both gave me comfort. If anyone asked me would I do it all over again I would say YES because you are my heart. I will miss you so much and know a part of you is always with me because you poured so much in me. I will miss taking care of you and watching TBN for those who we enjoyed listening too while eating. God, I thank you for creating her and allowing me to be her granddaughter but mainly her daughter. We did so much together and I felt as though she was my angel here on earth because she watched over me. I thank you for letting me take care of her throughout the years. I love you grandma
