Alfred Levine Obituary

Alfred Levine CHARLESTON - John 11:25 "...I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Alfred Levine, affectionately known as "Big Al," was born to the late Louis Levine Sr. and Alice Johnson-Richardson on October 7, 1945, in Cross, South Carolina. Alfred was joined in holy matrimony to Norma Jean Pringle-Levine on June 1, 1967. Having been together for 66 years, he adored his beloved wife of 57 years. This union was blessed with three sons: Tony Levine, Derrick Levine, and Terrance Levine. Alfred equally adored his sons. He was a caring, hard-working man who loved and protected his family. He diligently cared for and nurtured his elderly mother until her passing. Alfred and Norma Jean moved to Smithfield, VA, in September 2022 to be closer to their sons and lived happily in their new home. Alfred entered into rest on May 12, 2024, at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA, with his family at his bedside. Alfred was educated in the Charleston County School District and graduated from Bonds Wilson High School in 1966. He furthered his education at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, South Carolina. Alfred enjoyed a successful career as a Blueprint Supervisor at Lockheed Martin Corporation. After twenty-nine years of dedicated service, he retired in 1997. Alfred gave his life to the Lord in 1996 and was baptized into the fellowship of the Azalea Drive Church of Christ under Bro. Frank McElveen. Alfred's dedication extended beyond his family and profession. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened. Alfred led by example. He was an entrepreneur and small business owner of Levine Janitorial Service. He loved doing handyman jobs around the house and working on his cars, which he kept until the wheels fell off. Alfred took great pride in maintaining a meticulous lawn and well-manicured hedges that would impress the likes of Edward Scissorhands. He was also a sports enthusiast who enjoyed basketball and football. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorite teams. Alfred is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Levine of Smithfield, VA; sons, Tony Levine of Woodbridge, VA, Derrick Levine (the late Marlene) of Rochester, NY, and Terrance Levine (Stephanie) of Suffolk, VA; brothers, Barry Richardson (Dell) of Goose Creek, SC, Joseph (JD) Richardson of Chonburi, Thailand; aunt, Wilmenia Campbell of Brooklyn, NY; brother-in-law, Willie (Joann) Dorsey of Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law, Pam Levine of Charleston, SC, Elaine Pringle of Charleston, SC, Del Richardson of Goose Creek, SC, Patricia Pringle of Charleston, SC, and Leslie Richardson of Hercules, CA; and adopted mother in Christ (100 years old), Ms. May T. Sheppard of Goose Creek, SC. Alfred is also survived by his loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Richardson; father, Louis, Sr.; stepfather, Richard Richardson; brothers, Louis (Pam) Levine, Jr., and Sam (Leslie) Richardson; brothers-in-law, Lavern (Cynthia) Pringle, Arthur Lee Pringle, and Earl (Elaine) Pringle. Sisters-in-Law, Orilee Mazyck and Delores Dorsey. The Home Going Service will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, 11:00 AM at The Azalea Drive Church of Christ, 3950 Azalea Drive, N. Charleston, SC. The Walk Thru will take place on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the funeral home from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Memorial messages may be sent to the family at: www.lowcountrymortuary.com.
