Thomas Victor Malinowski passed peacefully into the next life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early hours of September 6. He leaves his sweetheart and best friend, Celeste, with whom he shared 60 years of love and devotion in marriage. He also leaves his three beloved children, Lisa Kader, Richard Malinowski, and Nathan Malinowski and their respective spouses, Ali, Ruth, and Christine. He was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren, Emily and husband Andrew, Charlie, Angus, Zack and wife Sakina, Zainab and husband Omeed, Imran, Isra'a and Mary, and one precious great grandchild, Noor Fatima. He prayed for them all daily as long as he was able. He leaves a brother Larry and his wife Marty of Sedgwick ME and was predeceased by his brother Michael.
Tom was born June 2, 1941 in South Weymouth MA to his hard working, down to earth parents, Mary and Victor Malinowski. He grew up in Abington, MA in a house steeped in Polish traditions and good food. He credited his parents for his no nonsense work ethic. Tom graduated from Abington High School and attended Northeastern University in Boston before switching to Stonehill College in No. Easton MA where he and Celeste found each other and bonded over physics class experiments. Long story short, she said yes and they married in 1965 and eventually settled in East Bridgewater MA.
Tom taught math for many years at Brockton High School where he became active and involved with his local teachers union, the BEA , while also working part time in a local supermarket. He was a gardener who relished proudly coming in the house sweaty and dirty
with baskets of his produce. He was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Parish Council at St. John the Evangelist Church in East Bridgewater. He delighted in his children who grew up to be solid, hard-working and successful with wonderful families of their own. After retirement, Tom and Celeste discovered Aiken and relocated here in 2008. Tom found his niche in the Master Gardener program and the horticultural night class at Aiken High. They settled happily in what turned out to be the perfect neighborhood in Cedar Creek with neighbors who are like family. He and Celeste became faithful parishioners at St. Mary Help of Christians Church.
As the challenges of dementia, Parkinson's and interstitial lung disease slowly crept up, he valiantly forged ahead as best he could. The family is grateful to the Lord for the blessing of his life. We are thankful to our Cedar Creek neighbors, Tom's physicians, the staffs at Aiken Regional and Anchor Rehab, the home health aides of Right at Home, the wonderful nurses at Agape Hospice, and Geriatric Specialist, Jennifer Huff. For those wishing to make donations, we would suggest
