Sam Whatley
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Funeral Services for Mr. Sam Whatley, 60, who entered into rest May 30, 2014, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. John Williams and Rev. Sam Drain officiating. Interment in the Whatley Family Cemetery.
Mr. Whatley was a life-long resident of North Augusta and a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. He was the owner of Whatley Construction and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Mr. Whatley was an outgoing person who had a great sense of humor and made those around him happy. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Whatley, grandparents, G.O. and Mary H. Whatley and Leonard and Hattie DeLoach.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Bonnie S. Whatley; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Amber Whatley, Clarks Hill, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Robert Murphy, Langley, SC; his mother, Annie Whatley, North Augusta, SC; three brothers, David Whatley, North Augusta, SC, Robert Whatley, Myrtle Beach, SC and Tim Whatley, Jesup, GA; two sisters, Lovelia Reese, North Augusta, SC and Liz Cox, North Augusta, SC; two grandchildren, Robbie Murphy and Tripp Whatley; his long-time canine companion, Skip.
Active Pallbearers will be Jonathan "Bubba" Poteet, Harry Hardin, Donald Owens, David Terwilliger, Mickey Wheeler, Dr. Phillip Kennedy, Gary Goodwin and Ryan Johnson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bobby McKie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 until 7.
