Peggy Ann Smith Yon
AIKEN - Mrs. Peggy "Prootsie" Ann Smith Yon, 85, entered into rest Friday, February 5, 2021.
Peggy is the wife of the late Bobby C. Yon. Peggy is the mother of Roger C. (Janet) Yon, Jeffrey A. (the late Dollie Fulmer) Yon, the late Debra Y. Jackson, and Sandra Y. Seay. She is the grandmother of Joshua C. Yon, Jonathan L. Jackson, the late Daniel P. Yon, Kati (Nick) Brayton, and Andrew L. Seay. She is the great grandma of Jameson Brayton and Murray Yon. She is the sister of Yvonne Addie "Scronch" Cantu, Shirley Poole, the late Deletha Lucas, the late Anna Laura Geddings, and the late Robert C. Smith. She is the daughter of the late Lester Collins Smith and the late Lapell Bodie Smith. Peggy has many nieces and nephews.
Peggy graduated from Wagener-Salley High in 1954 as valedictorian of her class. She soon began her secretarial career beginning at Wagener Mfg. Company and ending with Comporium. She has been enjoying her retirement for the past 23 years. Peggy was an avid gardener, she especially enjoyed growing tomatoes. She shared the fruits of her labor with many. Peggy enjoyed playing the piano. She loved working in the yard and traveling. She went to Alaska and Ireland as well as other places. Peggy also deeply loved her family. Her children and grands were her world. She had many wonderful "adventures" with her grandchildren. She was the best Mama and Grandma to us all.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 pm Monday, February 8, 2021 in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Funeral Service will be 3 pm Monday also in the chapel with Rev. Chris Addy ministering. Burial will follow at Berlin Baptist Church Cemetery.
