Otis Melton, Sr.
Graniteville - Mr. Otis Melton, age 89, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 at his residence. He is survived by his two sons, Earl (Martha) Melton, Jeffrey A. Melton (Kari Frederickson); sister, Sylvia (Ronnie) Bryant; grandchildren, Monica (Steven) Petersen, Candis (Jeremy) Moyer, Melany Franklin (Justin) Keith, Olivia Melton, Rebecca Melton; and great grandchildren, Cole Petersen, Trent Petersen, Ava Moyer, Lola Moyer and Elaina Moyer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Burckhalter Melton; daughter, Iris Melton Franklin; parents, Jesse T. and Jewell Thomas Melton; brothers, Lenwood Melton and William Melton. Mr. Melton was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked for over 45 years in the textile industry for Graniteville Company, Greenwood Mills in Orangeburg, SC and Mobay Chemical Corporation in Rock Hill, SC. He was a member of the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church in Rock Hill, SC before moving back to Graniteville where he returned as a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 at 1 o'clock, at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Graniteville with the Rev. Doug Puckett officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church parish hall. The interment will be private and held at a later date. The family would like to extend a thank you to these very special people: Sara Medlock, a very close friend who has become like family, for her constant support during this time; Beth Johnson, Austin Johnson and Caroline Barron, Mr. Melton's caregivers, for all of the care they extended to the Melton Family; Candy Windsor and Sharonda Cullars, who worked as hospice nurses, for their care of Mr. Melton and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Graniteville, SC.
