Odell Allen Obituary
GRANITEVILLE, SC - Mr. Odell Allen, 70, of 183 Fioli Circle, Granteville, SC, entered into rest February 12, 2017. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at the G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary and Chapel with Reverend George L. Brightharp officiating. Interment will be at Southlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Allen was born on October 6, 1946 to the late Abraham B. Allen and Gracie Allen in Windsor, SC. He spent his early years in Windsor and later moved to Aiken, SC. He was a 1965 graduate of Martha Schofield High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 at Fort Bragg, NC where he became a member of the 173D Airborne Brigade. While serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Parachute Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After an Honorable Discharge from the Army, life's journey took Mr. Allen to start a long-term career at the Kimberly Clark Corporation in Beech Island, SC.
While serving in the army Mr. Allen met and later united in marriage to Gloria Williams of Edgefield, SC. From this union three children were born. Mr. Allen was a devoted father, loving grandfather, supportive brother and friend who enjoyed vacationing and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He dedicated his life to the growth and advancement of his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters RoChanda (Harold) McClain and Aundrea (Matthew) Brown both of Spartanburg, SC; and one son Bryant (Ashley) Allen, Aiken, SC; mother, Gracie Allen, Aiken; four sisters, Harriet (Robert) Session, Roselle, NJ; Janice (Johnny) Taylor, Gaston, SC; Diane Pollin, Warrenville; and Margie (Willie) Jones, Aiken; eight grandchildren, two aunts, Ella Dicks, Brookland, NY and Maxine Allen, Atlanta, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends may call the residence of Gracie Allen, 525 Newberry St or after 1pm at the funeral home.

I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of my dear friend and classmate. I saw him at the VA in January and he looked good. We hate to see him leave us but he is in a better place. May piece be with the family.
