Mrs. Carolyn "Mignon" Beard
Aiken - Mrs. Caroline "Mignon" Puckett Beard, 91, of Aiken, SC, a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful servant of the Lord, lived a life rooted in family, faith, and community, entered into rest on Sunday, March 22, 2026, while in the comfort of her home.
Born in Bath, South Carolina, and later raised in Langley in Aiken County, SC, she was the cherished eldest daughter of Elbert J. Puckett and Aletha Watkins Puckett.
Mignon graduated with honors in 1952 from Leavelle McCampbell High School in Graniteville, South Carolina. Her dedication and promise earned her a scholarship from the Graniteville Company, where President Daniel T. Sanders recognized her achievements, along with a Merit Award to continue her education. She went on to attend the University of South Carolina, where she studied journalism.
After completing her education, Mignon met the love of her life, Bryan Spencer Beard. The two were married and built a life grounded in love, faith, and mutual devotion. Together, they raised three children: Bryan Spencer Beard, Jr., the late Aletha Beard Good, and the late Amy Beard.
Mignon was the heart of her home deeply loving mother who was always present for her family, offering constant care, strength, and encouragement. Her love extended beyond her household and into her church and community, where she faithfully served for many years.
A gifted singer, Mignon, used her voice to glorify the Lord. She served as music director at Central Baptist Church until 1985 and at Matlock Baptist Church and Marion Street Baptist Church until 2002. She dedicated more than three decades to church music ministry. Her passion for worship and service touched countless lives.
Mignon was also actively involved in her community. She served as president of the Diabetes Board for many years. With creativity and compassion, she helped organize and participate in community fundraising efforts, including Broadway-style productions such as Hello, Dolly! and Carousel, raising over $50,000 for the South Carolina Diabetes Association.
Mignon and Bryan found a spiritual home at Millbrook Baptist Church, where their shared faith flourished. Bryan served as a Sunday school teacher and later joined the choir alongside Mignon. Together, they exemplified a life of service, love, and unwavering faith.
Mignon's legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and joyful praise. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her steadfast faith, and the love she poured into her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who know her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2 o'clock at Langley First Baptist Church, Langley, SC. Mignon will be placed in the church at 1 o'clock on Saturday.
