MICHAEL MONEYMAKER Obituary

MONEYMAKER, MICHAEL G. - age 66, of Farragut, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Mike had developed a very rare form of lung disease, which required him to have a lung transplant. Mike unfortunately never received this transplant, but he did donate after his death in hope of helping someone else live a better life. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, and was the Director of Transportation Services at the University of Tennessee for more than 37 years. He helped establish the Smoky Mountain Soccer League and was a huge Big Orange Fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Cressie Guthrie Moneymaker. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Vickie Moneymaker; children, Christopher Moneymaker, and wife Christy, Jeffrey Moneymaker, and Brandi Moneymaker; grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Hayden and William Moneymaker; mother-in-law, Jean Fowler; sister-in-law, Nancy Evans and husband Craig; nephew, Fowler Evans; niece, Anne Victoria Evans; faithful dog and companion, Sable, and many friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Burt Love officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Parkwest Medical Center for their loving care and compassion. I am so sorry for your loss, yet happy to have known Mike. Always the big joker, and always free to share an opinion, yet extreemly sincere and always willing to help out with work or personal advice. He will be missed, in so many ways. He is in a better place with better health, giving someone else a hard time.

As the former Fleet Manager for Clemson University I often contacted Mike on vehicle fleet related subjects. He was always ready, willing, and able to assist in any way. Although I nerver met Mike I did consider him a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Just remember, you will meet him again in a a better place.

To the Moneymaker Family
As a former UT co-worker and carpooler with Mike, I was shocked to read of his passing. I always enjoyed Mike, and we enjoyed catching up on the years when we'd occasionally 'bump' into each other. My wife and I will miss him. May God impart His special comfort to your hearts.
