Max Herron Obituary
AIKEN - Max Richard Herron, 69, entered into rest on Friday, February 16.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dalton Collins Herron, Johanna Herterich, and his brother, Dalton Collins Herron, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Genessa Mcintosh, son, Max Richard Herron, Jr., daughter, Abby Herron, sister, Ilona H. Boyd, brother, James George Herron, sister-in-law, Sun Herron, 2 grandsons, many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Max was a lifelong resident of Aiken where he attended Aiken High School. Many know Max as the owner-operator of Sand Hills Grocery, better known as the Monkey Store, located on Hwy. 1, from 1993 to 2010.
His many interests included reading, music, the cosmos, politics, fishing, and all types of people he met through the years. A Memorial Service to honor his life will be held at Aiken State Park, March 10, 2024, 3 PM; Shelter #3, bring a chair.
The family requests that donations in Max's memory be made to The American Heart Association.

One of the things I admired most about Max was his love of knowledge. He was always interesting to talk with. He followed in the foot steps of many Herron's in becoming a merchant. He will be remembered for many things, especially his delicious boiled peanuts.

Max lived on our land for the past five years and in our house for the month prior to his death. He was a character. He had an amazingly quick mind and was super intelligent. We laughed together often - usually when we didn't agree with each other. He is missed very much! Love you, Max.
