Matthew Duckett
AIKEN - A Celebration of Life Service for Matthew Hamilton Duckett, 35 of Aiken, SC formerly of Barnwell, SC will be held at one o'clock p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Barnwell with the Reverend Lee Clamp officiating. Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place; facemasks are requested. The service will be live-streamed on our Official Folk Funeral Home - Live Stream Facebook page for those unable to attend. Memorial contributions may be given to the SPCA Albrecht Center, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801, https://www.letlovelive.org/donate. Matthew passed away on Monday, February 2, 2021.
Born in Columbia, SC Matthew was the son of Barry Hamilton Duckett and Dorothy Duckett. He previously worked as a Q A Inspector for Augusta Fiberglass in Blackville, SC and was a member of the Barnwell First Baptist Church. Matthew loved to watch and play baseball and enjoyed playing most all sports. He was an avid, Carolina Gamecocks, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons Fan. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and listening to good music.
We called him Matthew, but he was known to many of his friends as - "Duckett."
Regardless, he was known by all for his contagious smile and his impossibly infectious laugh. Matthew's timing was impeccable - always showing up just in time - whether for Christmas lunch or a Carolina football kick-off. He was an artist - always crafting the perfect joke at the perfect time which would have the entire room rolling laughing and nearly in tears. Matthew never knew a stranger - he talked about his friends as if they were family, and his family as if they meant everything to him. Duckett is the name he inherited from his late grandfather - a man who Matthew reminds us of, and whose heart was as big as any. If Matthew's heart could tell us a story or teach us a lesson, it would be one of love - for family, for friends, for everyone - always. Matthew was dearly loved, and he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents Barry and Dorothy Duckett, survivors include a daughter; two sisters Kelly Segars PharmD, MD. of Roanoke, VA and Christy Jones of Columbia, SC; his paternal grandmother Jane Fulmer; his niece Audrey Chayse Stanley and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Fred Duckett and his maternal grandparents Virginia and Martin Dickey.
Folk Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
