Martin Kiser Obituary

Martin Herbert Kiser
COLUMBIA, SC - Martin Herbert Kiser, of Columbia, SC (formerly of Aiken, SC), passed away on August 26, 2014, after a brief illness.
Martin was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 12, 1954, to Silas Henry and Marjorie Kiser. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Aiken, SC, where his father worked for DuPont on the Savannah River Site. Martin graduated from high school in Aiken in 1972, and enrolled at Furman University. He transferred from Furman to the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1976. He then enrolled at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he graduated in 1979. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar on November 8, 1979, and worked as an attorney in Columbia for many years, principally in real estate matters. He was a member of the South Carolina Bar Association.
In Columbia, Martin was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and often served Sunday morning breakfast to the homeless. He frequently attended the Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA, with family, and loved spending time on the coast of South Carolina, at especially Fripp Island and Isle of Palms. Martin had a gentle, quiet way, and a kind spirit, and will be greatly missed.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Greg, of Greensboro, NC, a niece, Elizabeth Stewart, also of Greensboro, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and many dear friends.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Columbia, SC, is in charge of arrangements. A service to celebrate Martin's life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC, 29201, on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 4:00 pm, with the Rev. Canon Charles Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

I am so sorry to learn of Martin's death. We were in law school together and his apartment was across the breeze way from mine at the old Bayou Apartments! Good memories and Martin was a good person, for sure.
My condolences to the family.
