Lynwood A. Kirkland
AIKEN, SC - Mr.
Lynwood "Lynny" Alton Kirkland, 61, entered into rest Saturday, June 4, 2016.
Lynny was the husband of Janice "Jan" Singley Kirkland for 26 years. He was the father of Garrett Kirkland and Brent Kirkland and the stepfather of Tommy (Angela) Holston and Dustin (Danielle) Holston. Lynny was the grandfather of Brianna Kirkland, Brenna Kirkland, Jackson "Jack" Kirkland, Luke Holston, Ethan Holston, Logan Holston and Hayden Holston. He was the son of Loree Fallaw Kirkland and the late George A. Kirkland of New Holland. He was the brother of the late Donna Kirkland and the late Wendell Kirkland. He was the cousin of Michelle Burnette (affectionately loved as a sister). Lynny also had many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lynny retired from SCE&G with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed lifelong hobbies of raising a wide variety of birds and gardening. He also adored caring for and loving his canine companion, Abby Rose.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 163 Main Street South, Wagener, SC 29164. The Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Saturday at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton Street, SW, Aiken, SC 29801 with the Reverend Grant B. Wiseman officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at P. O. Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. Pallbearers will be Freddie Busbee, Lendel Hutto, Det Hyslip, Bud Parker, Sherald Rodgers, and Jay Watts. Lynny's final resting place will be in the church cemetery. A time of fellowship with the family will follow in the church parish hall.
