Graniteville - Mrs. Louise Herron Dorsett Gunter, 95, of Graniteville, SC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, April 4, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Will and Essie Kirkland Herron. Her uncle, John Herron, gave the land to Bethel Baptist Church, of which she was a charter member and taught Sunday School for over forty years. Miss Louise loved her church and church family. She was an inspiration to many. She retired from the Graniteville Company after thirty-five years of service. Following her retirement from the Graniteville Company, she went to work for the Aiken County Health Department for four years, where she loved being a Nurse's Aide. Miss Louise was a Caregiver at heart. The needs of others were always put before those of her own.
Family members include her husbands, the late Charles Dorsett and the late Leroy Gunter, who she provided great care prior to their passing, a daughter, Connie Black and her husband, Leron, Graniteville, SC; siblings and their spouses, Margie and the late Edward Ford, Wagener, SC, L.V. and Coleman Hatfield, Gilbert, SC, the late Paul Edward and Joan Herron, the late Pansy and the late Marvin Grover, the late Adie and the late Jesse Widener and the late Shirley and the late Joe Williamson, grandchildren and their spouses, Sherri and Logan Marshall and David and Lauren Smith and a great-grandchild, Somers Smith.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 7, 2022, beginning at 1 o'clock at Bethel Baptist Church, Aiken, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 o'clock at the church. Pastors Brancie Stephens, Bobby Grover and Steve Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Eddie Herron, Gene Herron, Jeff Herron, Corey Fanning, Lee Benson and Eddie Willing. Ira McKuhen, Danny Grover and members of the Agape Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family has asked that memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2168 Aiken, SC 29802.
