JOHNSTON, SC - Funeral Services for Mrs. Helen
Johnson Derrick, age 92, will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church at 5 pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bland Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm.
Mrs. Derrick passed away Monday, July 20, 2015. She was born on November 4, 1922 to the late Josephus and Annie Lybrand Johnson. She was a homemaker and had a passion for cooking and entertaining. She was a member of Johnston Peach Blossom Garden Club, Johnston Lioness Club and served as a volunteer at University Hospital Gift Shop. Helen was a member of Mt Calvary Lutheran Church where she served as organist and pianist for many years.
Survivors include her son: Joe Alvin Derrick (Miriam); grandchildren: Marsha Gantt (Greg), Nancy Derrick and Christopher Derrick and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward Kester Derrick.
Memorial may be made to Mt Calvary Lutheran Church Choir Fund or Senior Citizens Group, 1186 Mt Calvary Road, Johnston, SC 29832.
