Dr. Gary Shepard Obituary

Dr. Gary Lawrence Shepard, age 69, died September 13, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Gloria Shepard; a daughter, Rebecca Niedziela; as his wife, Wanda Key Shepard. He is survived by his daughter, Allie Shepard; two grandchildren, Becky & Sebastian Niedziela; a brother, Scott Shepard; two stepchildren, Brandon & Justin Smith; and two step-grandchildren, Madison & Collin Smith.
Gary was a retired optometrist having owned and operated his own practice in Aiken for many years. He was an avid musician, having performed in many community performances and local rock bands.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, in The George Funeral Chapel.

Gary was the finest musician I ever played with. He could lift any band with virtuoso performances on guitar and keys. Music was his life and love, and he gave immense pleasure to those fortunate enough to hear him play. I am grateful to have shared a tiny fraction of those moments.
