Alex Chriswell Obituary

Mr. Alex Ray Chriswell, 85, of Gloverville, SC, beloved husband of nearly sixty-four years to Kay Posey Chriswell, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, while in the comfort of his home.

Friends will be greeted by the family on Friday, March 13, 2026, beginning at 1 o'clock at Gloverville First Baptist Church, Gloverville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 o'clock at the church. Dr. Joe Youngblood will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brandon, Bryce, Chase and Blake Chriswell, as well as nephews, Norm Attaway and Matthew Johnson. Members of the Lower Three Runs Hunting Club will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

A lifelong "Valley Boy", Alex was the son of the late Ezra "Buck" Chriswell and the late Lillian Collins Johnson. He was a graduate of LBC High School and was a member of Gloverville First Baptist Church. Alex retired from the Savannah River Site in 2000, where he was a Carpenter.

A talented baseball player, he played semi-pro baseball in Augusta, GA. He also played softball in several recreation leagues for many years. He was also an avid Gamecock fan.

An avid outdoorsman, he was a founding member of the Lower Three Runs Hunting Club. He was happiest when he was hunting turkey and deer and fishing. For over thirty years, he hunted with club members. Many days were spent hunting with his sons and, later, his grandson, and let us not forget, his granddaughter.

Let us also not forget that he was also a proud member of the "Has Been Club".

Family and friends came to expect a phone call from Alex simply wanting to know, "What have you done or seen today?"

Along with his wife, Alex is loved and will be missed by his boys, Kenny (Kim) Chriswell, Kerry Chriswell and Kevin (Cherie) Chriswell, grandchildren, Tara Williams, Brandon Chriswell, Bryce Chriswell, Chase Chriswell and Blake Chriswell, great-grandchildren, Charlotte Chriswell, Carson Chriswell, Dakota Williams and Isabella Chriswell and siblings, Tessa (Bruce) Attaway and Mark (Sheila) Johnson.

Also, preceding Alex in death were a brother, Clayton Chriswell, and his stepfather, James C. Johnson.

The family would like to give special thanks to Mindy Roberts, Alex's niece, for all the help in coordinating his care, and to all the home health providers and support staff who provided great care for Alex.

Memorials in Alex's memory may be given to Gloverville First Baptist Church. (www.glovervillefbc.com)
