Theron Thompson Obituary

North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Theron Theodore "Ted" Thompson, 94, who entered into rest March 18, 2026, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel, Rev. Dr. Cathy Jamison officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 until 7.

Mr. Thompson was born in Akron, Ohio on July 18, 1931, to the late Theron and Hannah Thompson. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve. Mr. Thompson was employed with DuPont for over 45 years as a chemical engineer and Westinghouse for an additional three years. He retired in 1995 at which time he and his wife enjoyed traveling on cruises, taking two a year and been around the world four times. Mr. Thompson was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church where he and his wife both sang in the choir for over 45 years. Also, during retirement, he became a volunteer with Community Ministry of North Augusta for more than 20 years. Mr. Thompson will be remembered for his hard work and service to the city of North Augusta on the City Board and Community Ministry. Additionally, he coached Little League when his son was playing baseball. Mr. Thompson put family first and spent vacation time with them at the beach and visiting family in Germany while they were teaching at a military base. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Opal Thompson; daughter, Kelly Lynn Thompson Kizer.

Survivors include his son and caregiver for the last eight years, Tread Thompson of North Augusta, SC; daughter, Stephanie Ghingold of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Alex Lesesne and Max Kizer; great-grandchildren, Kelly Ann Lesesne, Gabriel Lesesne, Samantha Lesesne and Banks Kizer; sister, Shirley Lankford.
