Hello Dad,
I'm reaching out to share a heartwarming update on our little troop, hoping to bring a smile to both you and Mom's faces. You've probably seen from recent photos how Destiny Dawn has transformed into the exceptional young lady I always knew she'd become which is why I named her DestinyDawn. She's not only secured two nominations from Congressman Neal Dunn for both the Naval and Merchant Marine Academies but also earned a prestigious Gold Star ROTC nomination for the Naval Academy. I am sure you are especially proud that she has chosen to serve in the Navy, following in the footsteps of you and Granddad. Knowing the quality of life the Navy offers, especially considering family life, brings me immense comfort and pride.
The wait for her official appointment continues, yet we're filled with optimism. Destiny often wishes you and Mom could witness these milestones firsthand. Despite the physical distance, your enduring presence and spirit uplift us.
Amari Anne, ever inspired by her sister, dreams of one day walking the halls of the Naval Academy herself. The thought of Destiny leaving for college is bittersweet, knowing it will deeply affect Amari. To add a sprinkle of joy, we introduced a pair of bunny rabbits into our home this Easter, which Amari adores endlessly.
Aye has been the cornerstone, tirelessly tending to our property, aiming for perfection before her return to work. Though our home is filled with love, it echoes the absence of you and Mom. We find solace in our memories, drawing comfort from them daily. In quiet moments, we whisper to the heavens, hoping for a divine nudge to favor Destiny's application among the academy board members. We're hopeful for news by April 15th but are prepared for the wait to possibly extend into June. Our hearts cling to the hope of this year's acceptance, yet we're ready for the possibility of another year's wait.
Time swiftly passes, yet each day brings us a step closer to a joyful reunion.
Sending all my love and more,
Your son,
Carl
P.S. Watching Destiny and Amari grow, witnessing the remarkable paths they're on, fills me with immense pride. I have no doubt you and Mom share in this feeling, watching over us with loving eyes.

My mom, Janice S. Gregory (Williams), was the glue that held our family together. My dad Ronald was the rock upon which we all stood. He was a steadfast man of his word, hard working, loving, and loyal to my mother till his last breath. He loved all of his children and we could always count on him when we needed a helping hand. He was not a big talker but what he said he stood by and believed. He loved to have fun and spent most of his life with his family when he was not working.
He and my mom lived to go out dancing and listening to music when they were healthy. I am sure that they are dancing in heaven together now.
Aye, Destiny, and I all miss you terribly Dad!
Thank you,
Love . . .
Carl

Ron Gregory was a tremendously good man and an outstanding Father-in-law. I first met Ron and Jan when I was in college and working at a carpet and vinyl warehouse. They came to purchase some carpet and their wonderful personalities drew me in immediately. Years later through fate I became their son-in-law. I worked side-by-side with Ron at Aiken County Public Schools where I learned more about his great work ethic and dedication. He was a wonderful father and husband, and to me a great father-in-law, role model, and friend. He and I ventured on a fishing trip once, where we got caught in a horrific thunderstorm deep in the woods. We walked for miles to make it back to our vehicle drenched with no fish in tow, but it was a wonderful experience for both of us. I loved listening to his stories of growing up in Montana and swimming in the Yellow Stone River. I also remember his story of a camping trip as a child when his mom and dad rushed the family out of the tent and to the car because a grizzly bear was near-by. There are many wonderful memories of cook-outs and playing board games and Rook with Ron and Jan. Ron never hesitated to help in any situation and was always quick to come over with his lawn mower to pitch-in with a hand on my yard, or just to handle it himself. He also came to our house once to try to take one of our sick cats to the vet as Kim and I were out of town. This is a funny story in remembrance, although I don't think Ron enjoyed the lashing he took from our street-savvy black cat, Sheba. Ron was an extremely good and kind man. He was always willing to lend a hand. We had many good times together as a family, and he welcomed me in to the family circle with open arms and great kindness. I will miss you, Ron. You were a great man and leave a great legacy. Thank you for all you did for me, and for all you taught me. Thank you for being a great father to your children, and a great father-in-law to me, and a great grandfather. We love you and miss you.

Kim Gregory Strother is a childhood friend and I have great memories of times with her and her precious parents. I spent many happy days and nights at their house. What strikes me most looking back as an adult is the way they took the time to watch us swim and do tricks in the pool (though I'm quite sure it could not have been very exciting!) I've never forgotten their kindness and their genuine interest in my well-being. Kim, I'm sure life on this earth won't be the same without your wonderful parents. I pray the Lord will comfort you in your grief and strengthen you with the knowledge of their presence with Him in Heaven. As you said in your post, you WILL be together again in Paradise one day! Love you very much-

Heaven gained a saint. It has been over 30 years since I have seen him but I remember his smile, his voice and his kind words. I can also remember him keeping all his kids in line (which usually meant Roy and I). He had a heart of gold. My prayers are with his family during this time.

I miss you, Dad, so much! It breaks my heart for you to be gone. What gets me through is knowing that you are with Mom now and eternally happy.
My father was definitely the strong, but silent type. He was a man of few words and when he spoke, I listened. He went work everyday and he took care of us 3 kids and my mom. He was always a man who could be counted on. I loved him with my whole heart and I know I will be with him again one day.
I love you, Daddy.

We had the pleasure of working with Ron in the Grants Management Department, Aiken County Public Schools, for many years. Ron used his skills from the Navy in keeping an office full of women in line - which he said was harder than actually working for the Navy. Ron was a kind and gentle soul. I cherish the time knowing and working with Ron.
