Geraldine Cato Obituary

Mrs. Geraldine Elizabeth Cato "Granny", 84, of Graniteville, SC, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, while in the comfort of her home surrounded by family and loved ones .

Born in Plant City, FL, she is the daughter of the late Tom Paul Hill and Addie Elizabeth Chitty Blackwelder. She had been a resident of the CSRA since 1960.

Geraldine retired from the printing department at University Hospital, where she was a Press Operator. She was the backbone and glue of her whole family. She loved listening to music, dancing, and spending time with her entire family. Granny had one of the biggest hearts in the world and would help anyone in need. She never meet stranger. She will truly be missed by all of her loved ones.

Geraldine was loved by her family, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, John D. Wade, Jr.(Robin Wade), Roy L. Wade, and Barbara Ann Carmony (Jeff Stone). Siblings, Katherine B. Martin (late Jerry Martin), and Earl Blackwelder(Linda Blackwelder), five nieces, five nephews, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding Geraldine in death were husbands, John D. Wade, Sr., and James H. Cato, Jr., siblings, Lois B. Wade (Delpin Wade), J.C. Blackwelder, Claude Blackwelder, Sr.(Josie Blackwelder) and Mack Blackwelder, a grandchild, five nephews, and two nieces.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 2 o'clock at Friendship Community Church, Aiken, SC. Geraldine's grandson, Pastor John D. Wade, III, will officiate.
