Elizabeth Riley Obituary
She was born, March 8, 1939, in Lafayette, to the late Charles and Alice (Leffert) Brettnacher.
Elizabeth graduated from Monitor High School with the class of 1957.
On September 26, 1959, she married Vincent E. Riley in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2015.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and enjoyed supporting her family in their activities, playing cards with her friends, Tuesdays lunch group, cooking, crocheting, gardening, going to Florida and was an avid Purdue sports fan.
Surviving are her children, Kathy L. Riley, Kevin E. (Laurie) Riley, Kathy L. Riley, Steven S. (Janella) Riley, Susan M. (Prudencio) Riley, Chris P. (Amy) Riley and Chuck V. Riley all of Lafayette. Three sisters, Kay (Sparky) Siple, Judy (Larry) Hart, and Kim (Doug) Brown and a brother, Chuck (Pat) Brettnacher, all of Lafayette. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Heath (Kathleen) Riley, Andrew (Mya Lorenz) Riley, Morgan (Neil) Switzer, Luke Riley, Nicholas Riley, Anna Riley, Caroline Riley, Emily Riley and Sara (Tim) Wilson and nine great grandchildren, Harper, Millie and Charlotte Riley, Gentry, Finn, Saylor and Kerrigan Switzer and Emery and Hadleigh Wilson and one on the way.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Brettnacher and John Brettnacher.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909
A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Lafayette.
Memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth's name to either the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
