Nancy Turner Obituary

Nancy O'Donnell LeBlanc Turner, 73, of Goose Creek, SC passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026 after battling dementia for several years.

Nancy was born on April 9, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Alfred LeBlanc II and Jean de Saussure Moore LeBlanc. She spent her childhood in New Orleans and attended Louisiana State University. After marrying, she moved to Maryland, where she raised her two daughters.

Nancy returned to school and earned her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland. She spent much of her career as the librarian at High Point High School in Prince George's County, Maryland. She later worked for the Department of Defense, serving as a librarian and later as a technology specialist in U.S. military elementary, middle, and high schools in Korea and Japan. Nancy retired to South Carolina to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.

Above all, Nancy was a devoted and selfless mother. She was a gifted and versatile crafter who could sew, knit, and crochet. In her younger years, she especially loved sewing, creating beautiful quilts, pillows, bags, and clothing for her daughters. She was artistic and creative. She had a natural affinity for computers and loved a good research project. Nancy was also a lover of plants and a savvy gardener, capable of transforming even the smallest patch of dirt into a vibrant and flourishing garden. A doting cat person, she rarely went without at least one feline companion, a fondness passed on to both of her daughters. Other things that Nancy particularly enjoyed were coffee (several cups of it), reading, traveling, shopping (particularly when she was buying for others), eating sweets, talking politics, and watching true crime shows. Fiercely independent, deeply determined, and energetic to the very end, Nancy lived life on her own terms.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred LeBlanc II and Jean de Saussure Moore LeBlanc, and her nephew, Samuel James Jenkins.

She is survived by her two older sisters, Laurens LeBlanc Lichty (Karl) of New Bern, North Carolina, and Jane LeBlanc Jenkins of Morris, Illinois; her daughters, Sybil Turner Goff of Summerville, South Carolina, and Marsha LeBlanc Potter (Ben) of Summerville, South Carolina; and her cherished grandchildren, Fallon and Amorie Goff, and Logan, Reece, Cecile, and Hannah Potter.

Nancy will be laid to rest in the de Saussure family plot at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina.
