Jimmie Hanner Obituary

Jimmie Marilyn Hanner, born December 1, 1938, in Parkin, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.

Jimmie was a woman of remarkable intelligence, sharp wit, and deep love for her family. She loved cooking for large family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving, where there were often more than twenty people around the table. She also had a special love for her dogs, who were always an important part of her life and home.

She worked at several unique places through the years, including John Davy Toys in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, and The Added Touch Gift and Gourmet Shop in Manassas, Virginia. She had a deep love of history and enjoyed playing tour guide in Washington, D.C., for family and friends visiting during their time in Virginia. From trips to the Capitol to sit in on Congressional sessions to visits to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the White House, and many historic sites in between, she loved sharing the stories behind the places.

In her retirement years she worked as the Boar's Head demo lady, where she enjoyed talking with people and making new friends. She also made many lifelong friendships through water aerobics at the local YMCA.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and therapists of Interim Healthcare nd Hospice for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided to Jimmie over the past seven years.

Her family finds comfort knowing she is finally free from the health struggles she endured for so many years and is now at peace.

She is survived by her children Harry Hanner (Nadine), Polly Sue Peer, and Shana Baker (Jeff), and her grandchildren Leann Hickman, Austin Hanner, Michael Peer, and Audrey Seprish.

A memorial service may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in her memory.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
