Bruce Richerson Obituary

Bruce W. Richerson, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 16, 2026, in Summerville, South Carolina. Born on September 9, 1944, in Estelline, Texas, Bruce lived a life marked by dedication-to his country, to his family, and to the simple joys that brought him peace. Bruce proudly served in the United States Navy, where he spent much of his career aboard submarines. Rising to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, he exemplified leadership and commitment throughout his service. His time in the Navy was not only a profession but a calling that shaped much of his life's discipline and resilience. After retiring from military service, Bruce continued to devote himself wholeheartedly to what mattered most-his family. He shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife Patty, building a life grounded in love and mutual respect. Together they raised four children: Todd (Susan), Tim, Travis, and Theresa (Mark), who preceded him in death. Bruce's legacy lives on through his grandchildren Nikki (Kyle), Amber, and Jackie; and through his great-grandchildren Becca, Stephen, Treyton, and Scarlett. A man of quiet passions, Bruce found joy in fishing-relishing the calm of the water and the thrill of the catch. He also enjoyed challenging himself with sudoku puzzles and took great pride in caring for those around him. Whether offering a helping hand or simply being present for those he loved, Bruce's steady presence was a source of strength for many. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him-as a devoted husband and father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, a veteran who served with honor, and a man who found happiness in life's simple pleasures. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on January 30, 2026, at 02:00 PM at Simplicity 281 Treeland Dr Suite C. Family greeting at 2:00 with service to start at 2:30.

Grandad you were the amazing man who taught me how to ride a bike, fish, and drive a car, what to look for in a future husband, shared navy stories with steven, and made sure kyle knew how to cook the BEST fried chicken in the world to make sure no matter where I was I could still taste home.
