Steve Gibbs Obituary

Steve Gibbs was born on June 12, 1956, to Mr. Charles Hawkins and Ms. Thelma Ollie Bell Gibbs. He departed this life on October 15, 2025.
Steve Gibbs was married to the lovely, Katie Marie Gibbs, for 42 years. He retired from Champion Aviation as a Quality Inspector, where he worked for 30 plus years.
Steve attended Greer High School, where he was a member of the Ring of Honor. From 1974 – 1978, Steve was a Clemson football player. He was an avid sports fan, specifically the Clemson Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed fishing.
Steve leaves to honor and cherish is memories, wife, Katie Marie Gibbs; children, Eric Hoke, Stephanie Gibbs, Karie (Alphonso, Jr.) Fersner, Chelsea (Joe) Whitner, and Stevie Cannon; grandchildren, Jaylin Gibbs, Jonathan Cannon, Journey Davis, Jayceon Davis, Bryce Rice, Alphonso Fersner III, Nakeem Hoke, Kiresa Hoke, and Eric Hoke, Jr., siblings, Annie Hunter, and Mary (Larry) Snyder, father-in-law, Franklin Bennett, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Ollie Bell Gibbs, stepfather, William Smith, brothers, George F. Gibbs, Willie E. Gibbs, and Raymond D. Gibbs.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 21, 2025, 1:00 PM at Abel Baptist Church 150 Abel Rd. Clemson, SC 29631. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson 410 S. Fant St. Anderson, SC 29624.
