Lester Alvin Moon, 89, beloved husband of 67 years to the late Alice Moon, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Born in
Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Willard and Carrie Hawkins Moon.
He was a proud graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1954, where he humorously referred to his diploma as his "PHD."
Lester served his country in the United States Air Force and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a faithful member of Greenville Wesleyan Church, where he and Alice lovingly prepared countless meals for the congregation over the years. A man of strong faith, integrity, and commitment, Lester was deeply devoted to both his church and community. He also served his community alongside his wife, Alice, and daughter, Teresa, by delivering Meals on Wheels, a testament to his servant's heart.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He was also a proud member of the Studebaker Car Club and Berea Lions Club.
Lester treasured family vacations, especially trips to the Isle of Palms with his beloved Alice. Above all, he loved his family fiercely and was deeply loved in return. He was a wonderful man who lived a life marked by faith, hard work, and unwavering family values.
He will be missed beyond measure, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by daughter, Teresa Stoecker; and brother, Kenneth Moon.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Jim Stoecker; brothers, Charles Moon, Paul Moon, Earl Moon, Wallace Moon, and Robert Moon.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. A private burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
