Wayne Dunn Obituary

Wayne Charles Dunn, 74, of Delaware City, passed away at the Christiana Hospital on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Wayne was born in 1950 to the late Frank and Geraldine Dunn in Wilmington Delaware. Wayne spent his childhood growing up in Brookside, Newark.
As a boy Wayne enjoyed swimming and getting into mischief with the other boys in the neighborhood. For most of his adult life Wayne worked in the construction industry as a concrete finisher.
After he retired from construction, he took a job working for the maintenance/janitorial staff at Salesianum School in Wilmington. Although hesitant at first, he grew to love the school, the teachers, and the students. He later fully retired and became the primary caregiver for his partner's father, Joe. Wayne and Joe became fast friends, and Wayne would often take Joe out for breakfast followed by rides past Joe's old haunts and listen to his stories of times gone by.
Wayne enjoyed home maintenance projects, working in the yard and in his garden which he tended for three decades. Wayne also loved the beach.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Frank A., and Geraldine Dunn and brother Tommy Morrison.
He is survived by his brother Frank of New Castle, his long-term partner, Patti Bennett of Delaware City with whom he resided, stepson Daryl Phipps (Lyndsey), and grandson Raymond. He is also survived by several cousins and many friends.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to honor his memory.
Wayne's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
