Emmett Jewel Snyder, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 93. Born in
Greenville, South Carolina, on May 27, 1932, to the late Emmett and Lillie Alexander Snider, Emmett lived a life rich in love and devotion to his family and community.
Emmett proudly served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War before embarking on a fulfilling career as a Maintenance Technician at KEMET Electronics Corporation. He took great pride in his work, demonstrating the dedication and skill that characterized his approach to life. He was of the Baptist faith.
He poured his heart into family gatherings, relishing each birthday, holiday, and Sunday lunch spent with loved ones. His passion for life shone through during family camping trips in the mountains and at their lake house, where many cherished memories were created. He could often be found riding his golf cart to visit friends or cheering on his great-grandson, Easton, at baseball games, embodying the spirit of a devoted and engaged grandfather.
Emmett remained remarkably independent shopping for himself. He also enjoyed his frequent trips to the Boot Barn with his daughter. In his final months, he charmed all of the nurses with his blue eyes during his hospital stays. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Suzanne Sizemore (Michael); son, Randy Snyder (Joanne); and grandchildren, Randall Snyder (René), Matthew Sizemore (Tonya), Amanda Morgan, Lee Snyder (Kelly), and Bradley (Irina). In addition, he will be remembered by his ten great-grandchildren and his treasured dog, Little Bit.
In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Anna Spencer Snyder; his son, Joel Snyder; his grandson, James Snyder; and an infant brother, Charles Snider.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 06, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West .
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love, generosity, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him.
